Uttoxeter Show Report 2009
Once again we had a stand in the Railway Marquee at the VJMC Classic Bike Show situated on the Uttoxeter Race Course, held on the first weekend of July.
Things did not start well, as during the journey down to Uttoxeter we were reduced to traveling at 40mph on the motorway as it was raining that hard! We were hoping for a nice sunny weekend for a change (don't you just love British summers!)
This year we arrived early to set up the stand, and this was completed by 5pm leaving us plenty of time to walk into Uttoxeter to sample the real ales on offer at the local Wetherspoons! This year also saw a new restoration gracing the stand in Steve's stunning Red MT5.
Saturday dawned bright and sunny and after a full breakfast and a couple of cups of coffee we were once again feeling human again! Andy Harrison had once again brought his MB5 special to display on the stand.
The good weather on Saturday brought plenty of the paying public through the gates. Plenty of people were also admiring Steve's new MT5 restoration, which certainly looked good lit up by the spot lights. It is also judging day, and when the results were posted at the end of the day we were delighted to have picked up four awards in total.
Best Sports Moped (1st place): Steve Mawson, Honda MT5
Best Club Stand (2nd place): The Honda MB Enthusiasts
Highly Commended (Sports Moped): Tony Mawson, Honda MB5
Highly Commended (1980's): Steve Mawson, Honda MBX 80
Despite an early rain shower Sunday morning the rest of the day stayed dry, and again plenty of the public came through the gates. The prizes were handed out by the well known ex racer (and Yorkshireman!) Mick Grant. This rounded off an excellent weekend by the MB Enthusiasts and we have already booked a stand for next year.
An early arrival allowed us to plenty of time to set up the stand
The addition of a few more spot lights this year, made the stand look a bit more professional
